Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to the 22nd GiESCO (Group of international Experts for Cooperation on Vitivinicultural Systems) meeting at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, July 16-21, 2023.

Founded in 1865, Cornell is a top-ranked University and the only Ivy League institution to offer research, teaching, and outreach in Viticulture & Enology.  Cornell AgriTech in Geneva, NY has a long history of grape and wine research. Beginning with a grape-breeding program in 1888, Cornell has developed numerous important grape-growing practices, including detailed canopy management of vines and vineyard mechanization.

The Ithaca campus is located in the heart of the Finger Lakes winegrowing region where over 250 wineries make wine from Vitis vinifera as well as a range of interspecific hybrids.

To reflect the unique winegrowing region of the Finger Lakes as well as the need for increased resilience in viticultural systems worldwide, the theme of the meeting will be “Diverse germplasm and precision technologies for varied and changing climates”.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I warmly invite you to participate in the 22nd GiESCO meeting.   Full details about the meeting will be available soon.

We look forward to welcoming you to Cornell University in July 2023!

Warm regards,

Justine Vanden Heuvel
Professor of Viticulture
Cornell University
